Biographical Sketch: Senior Correspondent for The News Hour with Jim Lehrer since October 1999 from National Public Radio (NPR). He hosted NPRs nationwide call-in news program, Talk of the Nation, since 1993. Mr. Suarez and NPR were awarded the prestigious 1993-94 Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Silver Baton Award for their coverage of the first all race elections in South Africa, which he hosted on-site from Johannesburg. Mr. Suarez holds a BA in African History from New York University and an MA in the Social Sciences from the University of Chicago, where he studied urban affairs.
Dr. Molina is currently Professor at the Department of Physiology at Louisiana State University and Vice Chair of the National Hispanic Science Network (NHSN). She has published over 60 journal articles and chapters. Dr. Molina's research is focused on neural control of hemorrhage-induced tissue cytokine production; the mechanisms involved in the accelerated muscle wasting associated with AIDS, and how chronic alcohol consumption and cannabinoid use affects the course and progression of AIDS-associated wasting and neurobehavioral function.
